The voice is a muscular instrument and subject to the same types of tension as other areas of the body, and may be affected by dysfunction in other regions as well.
Special voice massage techniques have been practiced in Australia and in Finland for many years, and a program encorporating Myofascial Release, specialized exercise, breathing and self care techniques was developed at Vanderbilt University Medical Center by Physical Therapist Carey Tomlinson with a study published by the American Physical Therapy Association. I participated in providing the treatment for the study and am the only massage therapist specifically trained in this technique. Additionally, my experience as a professional singer assists in my understanding of the performance of these techniques and care of the voice. your home: |
